Frequently Asked Questions

Questions commonly asked about the Traditional Spanish Market

If your question is not addressed here please reach out to us directly through our contact page, and we will be happy to assist you!

Is Spanish Market going to be held this year?

Yes, the 2021 Traditional Spanish Market will be held this year on July 24th - 25th, 2021 from 8:00am - 5:00 pm on the Santa Fe Plaza and the surrounding streets!

Will you be on the plaza?

Yes, the 2021 Traditional Spanish Market will be held on the Santa Fe Plaza and the surrounding streets.

Will all your artists be at the Market?

We leave participation in the 2021 Traditional Spanish Market up to the artists' discretion. 82 of our adult artists and 22 of our Youth Artists will be at their booths and tables on the plaza! We leave participation in the 2021 Traditional Spanish Market up to the artists’ discretion. There will be no penalty for opting out of participation this year.

Will there be a Preview, and where?

We will not hold the awards competition or the Preview this year. We are confident that we will hold our Preview for the 70th Traditional Spanish Market.

Because there will be no in-person Preview Event this year, we will instead present an online preview. This online preview will consist of a maximum of TWO works of art by each artist, that will be displayed on the SCAS website the week leading up to market.

We are confident we will again hold our traditional Preview for the 70th Traditional Spanish Market.

Will you also have your Contemporary Spanish Market?

The Contemporary Spanish Market is a separate entity from the Traditional Spanish Market, however, they will also hold their annual market this year at the same time.

What Covid-19 precautions will you be taking?

We will be taking all state mandated Covid-19 precautions. The Govenor has projected that New Mexico will be mandate free by June. If this is the case come Market time, we do encourage all artists and visitors to wear masks. We will mandate mask use within the Youth Market area since some youth are too young for vaccinations.

How should I prepare for the 2021 Traditional Spanish Market?

We at the Spanish Colonial Arts Society realize that our 2021 Traditional Spanish Market will look and function differently despite whatever mandates will or will not be in place once market is taking place. We have compiled a list of some afforable Covid safe items for our artists to consider purchasing and implementing in your own booth. We want to encourage all artists to do what makes you feel most comfortable. We want to encourage all artists and visitors to engage with each other’s safety and comfort in mind.

Please remember that at our elevation of 7,000’, you will want to drink plenty of water, wear layered clothing for our changing weather, and take time in your shopping to enjoy our surrounding food vendors and restaurants – we want you to fully experience our Market and community.
