Art Workshop: Making a Traditional Colonial Repisa
Museum
Master carpenter George O'Bryan will teach students how to build a traditional repisa (shelf) with the basic tools illustrated by Alan C. Vedder in his book Furniture of Spanish New Mexico. George has worked on the restoration of John Gaw Meem buildings for many years including the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art. Fees are $160 for members, $175 for non-members which will include a set of tools for students to take home. Call Pat Price at 982-2226 x 122 for more details. This workshop is sold out, call to be added to the waiting list.

Russian icon Painters and New Mexican Santeros
Museum of International Folk Art
A panel discussion will be held between four Russian icon painters, brought to the US by the Library of Congress and the Council on International Relations, and four New Mexican santeros/santeras. The four featured Spanish Market artists are John Jimenez, Arlene Cisneros Sena, Monica Sosaya Halford and Nicolas Otero. Painting demonstrations by the eight artists will follow the panel discussion. The event is free and open to the public.
