EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS

Spanish Colonial Arts in the Classroom
These hands-on classes are in the traditional Spanish Colonial Arts and are taught by Spanish Market artists who travel to the classroom. Classes are available for 3rd grade and up in the following art forms:
  • retablos (paintings on wood)
  • colcha embroidery
  • tinworking
  • weaving
  • pottery
  • straw appliqué
Connections: Conexiones
Opportunities are available through the museum for a docent-artist team to visit the classroom for a comprehensive presentation of a Spanish colonial art form including a hands-on activity. The visit will be followed up by a trip to the museum for a docent led tour with a focus on the art form that was taught in the classroom.
